CADENCE Editors Choice Awards, CADENCE, Dec 2000
In the second and final round of Editors’ Choice selections for 2000, we point out some stand-out hardware and software products that will surely make a difference as the CAD industry transitions into the 21st Century.
The Editors’ Choice awards gives CADENCE a chance to recognize CAD-related products and services that we think are truly exceptional. Members of our editorial advisory board, reviewers and the core edit staff recommend newly released products (within the last six months) or products that we’ve recently reviewed for the first time for the award. These products can range from new releases from industry veterans to upstart CAD innovators. You’ll notice that the Web ASPs are staking claim to a key role in moving the industry forward, and small in size but not in stature, PocketCAD Pro, has almost single-handedly moved handhelds onto our CAD-excellence radar screen. So take a look at our final honorees for the year 2000; you’ll surely find something of interest. We congratulate all of the development and marketing teams that stand behind these products and services.
Imagecom/ASPire3D.com Carrying the slogan, “We will convert so you can create,” this new Web launch from Imagecom is the first ASP to offer automated 2D-to-3D CAD conversion. At the ASPire3D.com site, you have access to the 2Dto3DCAD.com service, which offers a quick, inexpensive, secure way to convert 2D legacy CAD drawings to parametric feature-based 3D models—a real boon for the Mechanical CAD industry. The software is powered by Imagecom’s FlexiDesign program, and the site is ideal for large, medium and small companies with copious amounts of legacy CAD data needing migration into a 3D environment. What’s more, users pay only if they deem the conversion successful. www.aspire3d.com |
