Arlington, Texas, August 1, 2000 – Imagecom, Inc., a leading developer of web portals for designers, announced today that it has selected Lightspeed Systems’ Traffic Control for E-business software for network traffic management for its ASPire3D.com portal. Lightspeed Systems is a leading supplier of high-performance network traffic management software for Windows 2000 networks.
Traffic Control for E-Business furthers Imagecom’s Application Service Provider (ASP) model by increasing network availability and strengthening server performance. Specifically, Imagecom needed to intelligently manage applications hosted on its back-end server farm, enhancing memory and CPU utilization and enabling seamless file sharing of data rich CAD models to its customer base. According to Dr. Raj Ganesan, Vice President of Development at Imagecom, “We were trying to find an off-the-shelf solution to load balance our back-end servers and most of the other products we evaluated only performed load balancing on the front-end. Our requirement was somewhat unique because we had an application running on our servers.” He added “We also wanted a solution that could load balance the servers based on several performance monitors such as available memory and CPU utilization and be completely compatible with Window 2000 Server. Traffic Control was a quick and easy solution to our problem and configuring it was a no-brainer.”Network traffic management was just one of the technical issues that Imagecom had to solve to put together their ASP infrastructure. The resultant setup is modular and highly scalable, capable of taking several thousands of hits a day. “Imagecom’s unique needs created a situation for which Traffic Control is perfectly suited,” said Aaron Heber, CEO of Lightspeed Systems. “The transparent load-balancing we offer bolsters the reliability of Imagecom’s products and outfits them for what’s ahead.” About Lightspeed Systems Lightspeed Systems designs products for enterprises that require high availability and optimized performance of critical business applications such as e-business. The company has been addressing network traffic issues between disparate systems for 16 years to provide leading-edge connectivity software for a worldwide customer base of Fortune 500/1000 companies and government agencies. |
